The Olive Branch Community Centre was born out of a vision to serve the local community. It has now been extended which allows greater use. The Luncheon Club provides not only meals, but a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy them. Conversations usally continue long after the meal is consumed. Lunches are also provided for those who are shut in and local groups. A number charities and community groups have used our premises including the Health Service, Victim Support and Credit Union. We have three rooms and a kitchen available for hire details are available from the church office.
We offer a personal service for weddings, funerals and infant dedications. We will guide you through decisions that need to be made and support you in what can be an emotional time. Our annual Memorial Service is a time for families to remember their loved ones who have passed away. Pastorial care and advice is also available to non members. Please contact us if you are in need as we may be able to help you or your situation.
Genesis Family School provides additional support in Maths and English, for students in years 4-11. Opened in 2004 it has been welcomed by parents and students. Educational visits and an annual day trip are offered as part of the school year. Three former students now attend grammar schools. Local schools are supported with financial gifts and a number of members sit on parent and governors committees. We also have ties with the Hands Outstretched Schools Team who take assemblies using drama, puppetry, mime and songs.
Our annual Family Fun Day is held at a local school each summer, where families from the church and the local community come together to socialise. It’s a fun packed day for all ages, full of various competitions including football, netball and dominoes. Face painting and the bouncy castle will keep younger children entertained. During the Easter weekend we hold a Caribbean Evening where you are entertained and food is provided Caribbean style. We welcome the New Year in with our Watchnight Service full of worship, quizzes, entertainment and a short sermon. Our Sunday services and children’s Sunday School are open to all and we extend a warm welcome to you.
