Cannon Street continues to be blessed with the presence of many children and young people. They are an important part of our congregation and we thank God for them. Ages range from newborn to mid twenties and each week over 100 attend our Sunday activities. Although working with young people is always challenging it's encouraging when we see the results as they grow and contribute to the life of the church.

We believe children and young people need to be in a safe environment. All workers are CRB checked and work to the guidelines set out in our Safe to Grow Policy. This ensures safety for children, young people and workers.

Sunday School - An already busy day gets busier when the young people arrive. From the crèche to the youth section the workers have an hour to get through their lessons and activities. A variety of teaching styles are used to get the message across, including Bible teaching, crafts, quizzes, discussions, DVD’s and presentations by guest speakers.

Youth Club- Members aged 11 plus meet every Thursday to socialise in a safe and nurturing environment. We average 25 young people each week, supervised by a team of youth workers. For many the highlight is our annual residential retreat, which is normally a combination of relevant teaching and outdoor activities. They have created a MySpace site which can be accessed here.

Genesis Family School is a supplementary school for years 4 – 11 teaching keystage 2 – 4 Maths and English. The school is open to the local community and is well supported. A number of students have received awards for their achievements at the school.

The Dads and Lads group supports the boys and young men in our church. The men take the boys on day trips or away for the weekend and act as mentors.

Young people are also involved in other areas of the church such as playing instruments, sound engineering and dance. Some of the older teens help support the Sunday School and youth workers. They lead worship and occasionally take our Sunday services.
